Finally, a surf shop that recognizes that, with its interiors, it’s actually OK to show an awareness of surfing’s history, an awareness of art and culture in general, and, most importantly, not rely on the surf-apparel industry’s aesthetically flat-footed in-store displays for its decor! Hellllo! (Wake up, ZJ. You’re beginning to look like a Macy’s with all that corporate logo-covered preassembled crap.)
Laguna Beach has had Thalia Street Surf Shop for years. San Clemente has Icons of Surf. How could it have taken so long for Venice, hometown of C.R. Stecyk III and a place with more culture than Laguna and San Clemente combined, not to mention being the home of numerous mainstream art-world luminaries, to get that kind of REAL surf-specific retail experience—a place for people who have an informed aesthetic?
Buy boards from these guys, so they stick around and so you have high-art equipment.
