METRO SURF

by thebradmiskell

If surfing is the new golf—and I think we can all agree that it kinda is—then Venice is one of those hardscrabble city courses. Balthustrol the breakwater ain’t…

Nor is it Trestles, or even El Porto — storied and serviceable SoCal breaks (respectively).

On the other hand, the best golfer in the world came from a municipal course not far from South Central, the best surfer, from NASCAR country. Which is not to suggest some young phenom is about to rise from these streets. At least not that I’m aware of.

What I will suggest is that it can be far preferable squeezing in nine drops at some scruffy local break than paddle-battling some deal-maker who’s dropped in at a name break in Malibu (mostly so he can drop the name in his next deal-making orgy).

PEOPLE: I’M STILL GETTING THIS SITE BUILT. AND I’M NOT THAT FAST. SO I HAVEN’T WRITTEN THIS YET. I WILL SOON. IN THE MEANTIME, I’M WORKING TO GET THE THING FUNCTIONING. THANKS FOR LOOKING. PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON.
