Do you have any of the Early history on the Biltmore by the sea hotel? I am looking for old info. Several past residents said that Marilyn Monroe lived in the top ocean front hotel room. Thanks for any info you can share. Carl

As a small child, I lived at The Biltmore By The Sea with my parents. We had daily maid service and telephone service.
There was a small elevator and the Manager’s apartment was on the ground floor facing the Ocean on the North side of the building. The Owner, George Becker was a retired attorney and lived facing the Ocean on the Fourth Floor. I lived there from about 1935 to 1943. The building was residence for many retired people, I believe I was the only child in the building.
It was a great place to live with the sand right in front of the building. We were there when the so called Battle of Santa Monica occurred. We heard what sounded like shelling aircraft and were advised by the Air Raid Warden to stay in place and keep our lights off. My father disobeyed and took us down the Front to a local restaurant where we stayed until the
All Clear signal. The streetlights on the Front were all painted black on the Ocean side to prevent being a target from the Ocean and aircraft.
