The owner’s research and city records indicate this house, built in the earliest days of Venice of America (six years before the canals were dredged and filled with water), was originally a duplex. Subsequently subdivided into four apartments, it’s been restored to a duplex. The house’s original exterior is believed to have been redwood siding and shingles. Its ground floor front rooms were a sun porch through which a central staircase was accessed.
