A “replica” of the historic Venice trestle sign hangs over Windward Avenue just west of Pacific. Welcomed back in 2007 to the spot where the original hung almost a century ago, the boxy letters V-E-N-I-C-E again light up the “downtown” Venice night in welcome.

Bike, blade and beach rentals right in the thick of things at Windward Ave and the boardwalk. This means you can watch the loincloth man balancing on a ladder while clutching rubber cobras while they’re setting up your ride. Jay’s also performs repairs, just in case you get a flat or blow out a blade wheel.

Surprisingly good little market right at Windward and Pacific, geared toward healthy eating. Now selling beer and wine. I’m told the tuna sandwich is sublime. Fresh fruit and vegetables. Lots of natural and organic food items as well as nice guacamole and spicy kimche.
